Capacity is the amount a container can hold.

 

 Customary Units of Capacity

1 (c) cup of milk - 8 fl oz
1 (pt) pint of milk - 16 fl oz
1 (qt) quart of milk - 32 fl oz
1 (gal) gallon of milk - 128 fl oz

 

Let's take a look at customary units of capacity using milk.

Capacity is measured in units of cups, pints, quarts, and gallons. The liquid is measured in fluid ounces.

A cup of milk = 8 fluid ounces

A pint of milk = 16 fluid ounces

A quart of milk = 32 fluid ounces

A gallon of milk = 128 fluid ounces
