There is no medication that cures autism, but certain drugs can help manage specific symptoms such as irritability, aggression, hyperactivity, anxiety, and sleep problems.

FDA-Approved Medications

Currently, only two medications are FDA-approved specifically for treating symptoms associated with autism in children:

Risperidone: Used to reduce irritability, aggression, and self-injurious behaviors in children aged 5–16 years with ASD.

Aripiprazole: Also approved for irritability and behavioral issues in children with ASD.

These medications are antipsychotics and can help decrease hyperactivity, minimize withdrawal, and reduce stereotyped behaviors
